ifup eth0 : ip: SIOCGIFFLAGS: No such device ?

Hi,
When I try to make ifup eth0 in console, I get such response as "SIOCGIFFLAGS: No such device". What is wrong with eth0 ? is not that defined ? How can I get it ? Thanks,
